Rowanbank is a white painted old Arran cottage which in earlier times was both a farm and Machrie’s post office and shop, and sleeps five people.

The large graveled area to the front provides ample parking for several cars, and sits just off the local quiet country ‘C’ road.


The property has recently been renovated to very high standard. Set in the rural west coast of the island it has superb countryside views and is only 2 miles to the nearest 9 hole golf course.

It is situated in the hamlet of Machrie with spectacular scenic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to Kintyre and is only a four minute walk to the sea.

Entry is via a south facing porch which is large enough to seat four people, and double-aspect windows throughout flood Rowanbank with light.

The spacious dining room also has an open fire and the pay telephone is here.

Off the hall to the left is the utility room with a washing machine, tumble drier and iron.

To the right is a twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom. There is a hand-held shower attachment over the bath.

Down the hall is a second twin bedroom( this can become a double bed on request) that leads into a dressing room and en-suite bathroom with a separate walk-in shower.

The dressing room has a 2’ 6” bed and a walk-in cupboard.
A cot and highchair are provided on request.

The large sitting room has a high vaulted ceiling and an open fire.
A flat screen TV with Sky Freeview and DVD player are provided.
One of the sofas can be converted into a double bed.

The fully-fitted kitchen has an electric cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and cafetiere.

Heating is via electric night storage heaters throughout.

Linen and towels are included.

Electricity usage is charged separately.

Coal is provided at a cost of £9.50 per bag.

Well behaved dogs are welcome. Note: the surrounding fields are full of sheep.

The large enclosed back garden runs the length of the house and affords spectacular views across Machrie Bay and over the sea towards Kintyre.

Outdoor clothes drying facilities, a table and chairs and BBQ are provided and the adjacent barn can be used to store bicycles.

There is a farm lane adjacent to Rowanbank which leads down to the rocky seashore, about a four minute walk.
